Mike Winkelmann, a digital artist known as Beeple, astonished the art world by selling his NFT at a Christie’s auction for $69.3 million.
The sale of Beeple’s Everyday: The First 5000 Days (2021) set the record for the highest sale for an NFT, and the 1st by an auction house, and the 3rd highest sale of a living artist’s artwork by an auction house.
Vignesh Sundaresan aka MetaKoven, a crypotocurrency investor, purchased Beeple’s Everyday.
NFT stands for non-fungible token. It refers to digital art of virtually any kind that has been certified as non-fungible or unique (“one of a kind”) when stored on blockchain.
Anything that is digital can be converted into an NFT.
