Christie’s sale of a new, physical work by digital artist Beeple is the latest sign of a merger between traditional and digital art that started with the artist’s sale of a $69 million NFT this spring https://t.co/RxVg6fPh4r
As reported by today’s Wall Street Journal, Mike Winkelmann aka Beeple, who sold the highest priced NFT ever ($69M for “Everydays”), is planning on selling a physical sculpture that is 7 feet tall and called “HUMAN ONE” on November 9.
The physical sculpture will be sold with an accompanying NFT.
This is a great example of how NFT artists can leverage their success in the metaverse to create new opportunities in the physical (analog) world. According to WSJ, “Earlier this month in London, Sotheby’s sold a $2.8 million acrylic box by digital artist FEWOCiOUS that contained a cartoonish blue, life-size figure wearing clothes designed by the artist for its owner to wear.”
