A huge shake-up announced by Yuga Labs. CEO Nicole Muniz will be stepping down. Daniel Alegre, Activision Blizzard’s president and Chief Operating Officer, will become the new CEO.
Alegre does appear to have the skills to help Yuga Labs build the Otherside into the state-of-the-art, gamefied metaverse that it aspires to become.
What still remains somewhat unclear is the role that co-founders Greg Solano and Wylie Aronow play at the company. They recently launched a podcast, The F—ing Metaverse Podcast. It’s amazing they find the time to do a podcast.
Some personal news, I have made the decision to leave my role as President and Chief Operating Officer of Activision Blizzard at the end of Q1 next year to pursue a new opportunity.
Being CEO of Yuga has been an incredible journey. Stoked to welcome Daniel to the team and can’t wait to see the awesomeness under his leadership. As for me, stay tuned. There’s a lot to build in this new era of the internet. https://t.co/tdTpa9YxtU
In an interview in 2021, Daniel Alegre said about himself that he was a passionate gamer as a teenager, and that this passion has been a part of all his previous professional stages.https://t.co/MSUhfELf2H
