Pranksy buys a fake Banksy NFT, but gets a refund of $336,000–apparently

An investor of NFTs who goes by the handle “Pranksy” reportedly bought an NFT Pranksy thought was sold by the famous artist Banksy. (Someone should write a poem next.)

The purchase was for 300 ETH ($336,000) on a now-deleted webpage of banksy.co.uk.

So my bid of 100 ETH was accepted for the potential #Banksy first #NFT on @opensea.

After the sale, Banksy’s representative told the BBC that the NFT wasn’t affiliated with Banksy: “The artist Banksy has not created any NFT artworks.”

But then, after media outlets started reporting the sale, Pranksy said the ETH he paid was returned.

Is truth stranger than fiction? Or is this a clever ruse? Has anyone confirmed that Pranksy is not Banksy?
