Visa launches support program to help artists create and sell NFTs

  • Yesterday it was Coinbase announcing its planned entry in the NFT world. Today, it is Visa.
  • Visa said it was partnering with Micah Johnson, former MLB player and now NFT artist. (per Coindesk) Johnson created Aku, a black astronaut character and the first NFT to be optioned for a movie.
  • Visa will select artists from an application pool and then offer them help in creating NFTs.
  • Cuy Sheffield, Visa’s head of crytpo, tweeted:

“We believe that we are at the beginning of a digital renaissance in the world of art and content creation — a flourishing ecosystem of artists, musicians, writers, photographers, and curators building communities at the intersection of culture and commerce.”
