GameStop to the NFT moon? Company hiring to create NFT platform for games

  • GameStop, based in Texas, is the largest video game retailer. Earlier this year, its stock skyrocketed due to social media hyping a short squeeze. It became what’s known as a “meme stock,” which is often identified on social with the phrase, “to the moon.” (Ars Technica summarizes the SEC report on GameStop and what happened.)
  • GameStop is back in the news. This time, it has posted a job to develop its NFT platform. There’s just a landing page so far–you can check it out here. “We welcome exceptional engineers (solidity, react, python), designers, gamers, marketers, and community leaders. If you want to join our team, send your profile or something you’ve built to: nfteam@gamestop.com.”
  • According to Coin Telegraph, GameStop is hiring for 8 jobs! They are: “3 roles for NFT experienced software engineers, 3 jobs for product marketers and with 2 roles focused on Web3 based gaming.”
  • If you haven’t been following, it seems like everyone is building NFT platforms! Who will be next? Facebook?
