- Friday, January 14th may be a day that we look back in history and say, That’s the day Bored Ape Yacht Club ended all debate over which NFTs are the most influential and the most powerful driver in the market. It’s BAYC.
- The floor price for the cheapest Bored Ape NFT is 83 ETH (($276,345.18). To put that into perspective, on Dec. 20, less than a month ago, the average sales price was around 51 ETH. The Jan. 14 bull run was driven by Deepak, the CEO for Chain.com (@dt_chain) sweeping the floor of BAYC and gobbling up many Bored Apes in flex move.

- Back on Dec. 22, the Bored Apes flipped the legendary CryptoPunks at 53.9 ETH, with CryptoPunks at 52.69 ETH. Back then, we wrote that the flip in floor price shouldn’t be given that much weight. It’s only one indicator. Check out our analysis here.
- Today, though, we think a 20 ETH floor difference between Bored Apes and CryptoPunks is a BIG DEAL. The Bored Apes have won. They have seized the attention, fascination, and imagination with how NFTs will move us to Web3.
- They just announced registration for their mobile game (see below).
- They have a major deal with Adidas aptly called “Into the Metaverse.”
- They have a deal with Super Plastic to make Bored Ape toys.
- Plus, they are using decentralized collaboration licenses to allow the thousands of NFT owners in BAYC, MAYC, BAKC to make their own commercial uses of Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, and BAYC dogs.
- These De-Collab licenses are quickly becoming the NFT market standard, as far as I can tell. I’ve written a paper on the Bored Ape Business Model — click here.
- And, if that weren’t enough, every day a new celebrity “apes in” and buys a Bored Ape NFT. The list includes: Steph Curry, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, DJ Khaled, Post Malone, Mark Cuban, Lil Durk, Travis Barker, Dez Bryant, Crystal Hefner, and Andrew Wiggins.
- Not to make any predictions, but we think Justin Bieber could be next.
- So time to buckle up, everyone. 2022 will be the biggest year for the Bored Apes.
