Caked Apes NFTs turn sour. Nasty lawsuits embroil creators of Caked Apes who sue each other over ownership. Taylor Whitley (taylorwtf) sues Jake Nygard (Cake Nygard), Clare Maguire, Antonius Wiriadjaja, Donglee Han, who countersue TaylorWTF.

  • You hate to see it. The people behind the fun Caked Apes NFTs have sued each other!
  • You heard that right. They are embroiled in lawsuits over the creation and authorship/ownership of Caked Apes, which are funny derivatives of the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club, plus a few other NFT collections.
  • Taylor Whitley (taylorwtf) sued Jake Nygard (Cake Nygard), Clare Maguire, Antonius Wiriadjaja, Donglee Han, who countersue TaylorWTF. Taylorwtf says he was ousted by the others from the Caked Apes project. In the lawsuit, he claims the others took his original designs.
  • Jake Nygard (Cake Nygard), Clare Maguire, Antonius Wiriadjaja, and Donglee Han then reportedly countersued Taylorwtf for allegedly abusing copyright by trying to get Caked Apes delisted from OpenSea (via a DMCA notice) and trying to claim copyright ownership over their collaborative effort.
  • Looks like there won’t be any icing on the Caked Apes, for now. Things have turned nasty.
  • We will track down the complaints and provide further updates. Stay tuned.
