Professor Ed Lee interview with The Rising, re: plea deals of Caroline Ellison, Gary Wang, effect on case v. Sam Bankman-Fried

  • Thanks to Briahna Joy Gray and Robby Soave of The Rising for interviewing me about yesterday’s plea deals of Caroline Ellison, Gary Wang, effect on case v. Sam Bankman-Fried.
  • The US government’s case is proceeding at warp speed. FTX declared bankruptcy on Nov. 11. Already two plea deals with two key executives of FTX and Alameda Research by Dec. 21. The leverage on Bankman-Fried just increased dramatically.
  • I also discussed a lurking jurisdictional issue with the government’s case, which does not involve FTX.US, the platform available to US customers. No FTT was supposed to be sold on FTX.US. But the CFTC has alleged, based on information and belief, that US persons could trade on FTX.com. Also, as I said in the interview, there seems to be no question that some US persons were direct investors in FTX.
