African artists sell NFTs for “life-changing opportunities”

  • Reuters has an excellent artist describing how NFTs are creating “life-changing opportunities” for artists in Nigeria.
  • For example, Nigerian artist Abdulrahman Yusuf began selling his art as NFTs back in May.
  • “There are life-changing opportunities on the NFT platforms. People who have been selling their artworks for 200 (U.S.) dollars just wake up and see their works sold for 40,000 dollars,” Yusuf, 24, told Reuters.
  • The annual Art X Lagos, West Africa’s premier international art fair, incorporated NFT sales in this year’s show.
  • His most expensive piece was priced at 2.2 ethereum ($10,274).
